Google is known to be the Empire of Search engines and there has been only the increasing trend in the search numbers. But in the month of February, 2008, there was decreased in the search numbers of Google. But still Google dominates in the competition of the major four search engines: Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft and AOL. But the search numbers of February favors Ask Network and there is increased in the search engine share of Ask network from 4.5% to 4.6%.

I got the chart from Comscore which compares the search numbers of all the major search engines. There is increased in the search engine share of Google from 58.5% in January to 59.2% in February. But for Yahoo!, the search share goes down to 21.6% in February from 22.2 in January, from 9.8% to 9.6% for Microsoft, 4.5% to 4.6% for Ask network and the search share remains the same for AOL.

But there is significant decrease in the search queries of all the search engines and the fact is true for the Google also. But in the history of Google dominating the search engine, there has been only the increased in the search numbers of Google but in the last month some strange things happened. What could be the reason for the decrease in the Google search numbers? Well, I am just giving my own ideas about this. Recently Google cleaned up all the paid posts and paid articles from their database and they almost banned all those websites with paid posts and articles. But may be some of the paid results and posts are helpful to the users of Google. Or may be due to the block of paid articles and posts, webmasters who are the victims of Google’s new algorithm might have stopped using Google search engine. (Funny Enough!??)

Google PR update is no more a regular process rather it is a continuous process and if you want to score good rank in Google PR, then you must continuously optimize and build your website. The new move of the Google is really a crazy idea. They have been developing a new tool through which any internet user can report to the Google that a particular website is doing link trade or something like that. They are just developing the tool and not ready for use.

But it comes to be true, then some people may misuse the tool which means it will become warfare between competitive websites. But Google is checking the PR of blogs and websites continuously and they can decrease your blog PR but they will not update your PR any time but still follow the regular timing of Google PR update. Google is doing some catastrophe things but not construction. They are now very much active in degrading the page rank but not updating the new PR.

I got a personal blog which is all about my experience in computer, internet and SEO. Recently the blog gained popularity and backlinks from many authorized websites like the website of UN. But I was little bit busy for the last few weeks and left the blog for about 2-3 weeks without writing anything. But when I came back to the blog again to write something, the toolbar is showing PR 0 for the blog. It is totally unfair and it just eats up my mind. Now the new Google PR algorithm is completely strange and not a stable one.

Recently I conducted a simple SEO test and it gives some good results. Actually I was promoting my “New proxy sites” and I didn’t want to buy links for my new site and I decided to conduct SEO experiment on this site. I have been optimizing the website for a keyword “New proxy” for about two-three weeks. Now the website ranks in the third-fourth position in the Google search engine for this particular keyword.

Now my “New proxy Sites” website is on the fourth position of the Google search engine for the particular keyword “New proxy” which means that the website has already been optimized enough to rank in the fourth place of the first page. But the website hasn’t gain any Google PR as there has not been any Google PR update after the development of this proxy site. If it helps both Google PR and SERPs, then directory submission still works for the search engine optimization. I will share the result about PR later after the PR update.
